this was the view from the doorway into the room. Every inch of space is taken up with photos, furniture, and storage...
AFTER... now, the bed and its gorgeous bedding is the true star. the client has since purchased new window valances in a chocolate brown (and remember the walls are now blue). the dressers now double as nightstands.

AFTER...
we removed two white drawer units that weren't being utilized fully (plus they just weren't cute!) and moved the "office" area over to the same wall as the closet. now, there's a clearer distinction between the "work" space and the "sleep" space.

the great family photography is sort of lost in the line-up of furniture and accessories. Most of it wasn't accomplishing much function, or didn't need to be in the bedroom.
now, these fabulous photos really shine. placed so simply on the wall, it's almost a gallery-type effect.
The one thing these pictures don't show very well, is now when you first enter the room, there is this beautiful open expanse of hardwood floors leading up to the foot of the bed. Before, you could hardly see the floors. The room seems twice as big now. This room's already been repainted a spa-like slate blue, and I can't wait to see it, combined with the beautiful chocolate bedding and the new window valances. (Next time I'm at this client's house, I'll take a photo and post it for you.) What fun!
